This room was prepared for Queen Marie Leszczynska so that she could rest, change and receive guests… in 1725!

Monumental Louis XV-era arch, gilded with copper leaf on a blue background. Stylish decor, with a wall hanging, taupe-coloured folded drapery under the arch, full bookshelves and period furniture.

You will be transported into a royal dream, from the bathroom with wonderful views over the park to the bathtub with a hydromassage system and the queen’s coat of arms over the front door!

History of Marie Leszczynska bedroom

In October 1725, the Château de Bourron was chosen to welcome the dethroned king of Poland, Stanislas Leszczynski, who, due to protocol, could not be received at Fontainebleau for the marriage of his daughter to the young Louis XV. The new Queen of France came to visit her parents daily and even lost a diamond in the park. However, due to protocol, Louis XV had to use hunting as a pretext to meet his father-in-law and to introduce him ‘incognito’, (according to contemporary chronicles), to all the ‘princes du sang’ (member of the extended royal family) and the Court in hunting gear, and finally his ministers and secretaries of state! It was in these apartments that the King and Queen of Poland received Louis XV!
